Have you every stood by a still, glassy body of water, threw a stone in the water, and watched the ripple effect as the ripples get larger and larger until eventually, they encompass the whole body of water? Well, the Bible says that every action we take on this earth, even the smallest deed causes a ripple effect for good or bad.
Maybe my fellow movie lovers will remember a line in the movie Gladiator when Maximus stands before his fellow soldiers and he says what we do here today will echo in eternity.
Family, I believe what we are doing day after day, week after week here at RC will also echo into eternity as we empower every person to LOVE-CONNECT-SERVE.
This week, Glynis and I went to deliver food to a former doctor who lives here in Lachine, in a very tiny apartment, who was in a terrible accident and became a quadriplegic. He lives alone without any family, except for a nurse who comes to see him, and he has truly little human contact. He is about to turn 65 years old and didn’t have any money to buy food until January, when he starts receiving his pension.
Can you imagine how it must feel to serve others for many years as a doctor and to be alone, hungry, and confined in a little room? But God sent YOU to bring this man help, hope and food to sustain him. Yes, you read that correctly. I said, God sent YOU. I know you may be saying, Bishop, God didn’t send me to help that man, He sent you and First Lady. While it is true that First Lady and I delivered the food, God used YOU to EMPOWER us to do His mission. Do you see the ripple effect at work?
Family, our heart aches to think that we don’t know when we will be able to gather in person again and some days things are exceedingly difficult emotionally, but to know that YOU are supporting us and praying for us pushes us FORWARD.
Family, God is giving us so many great opportunities to advance His kingdom and I’m going to be sharing some ministry plans for 2021 before the end of this year. However, can I ask you in advance to begin praying and asking the Lord about sowing an extra financial seed into the ministry before the new year to help us finish 2020 strong? We are praying for your success and prosperity through this season and we thank you for your love and support.
As we enter the beginning of this Christmas season and even though we are unsure of what Christmas will look this year, we can be encouraged that our God has promised hope and good will towards all men.
God bless you richly
Bishop Burton
